Security ID - Fast Efficent Cards

How It Works Apply Onliine

How it Works

Before you start your ASIC application, you should be ready to provide:
  • An operational reason about why you need a card, including confirmation - e.g. aviation licence or employer's letter.
  • Your personal information and contact details.
  • 10-year residential address history.
  • Identity verification by presenting your original identification documents in-person to an agent.
  • Colour digital photograph - provided by applicant, employer or agent.  If you nominate Australia Post to conduct the in-person identity verification, they will also take your photo.  If providing your own passport-style photo, please ensure it is new or recent, good resolution, head and shoulders, facing forward, normal face expression, plain background, use flash if low light or to prevent shadows.
  • Credit card payment or confirmation from your employer to invoice (pre-approved accounts only).

Operational Need

Not applicable to Job Ready applications.  You will be asked to tell us about your operational need for a card. Be ready to write two sentences, not just one word.  For a red or grey card, tell us your employment or recreational need to frequently access a secure area, and whether it is at one airport only or more than one airport.  Your employer/airport/aero club/flying school may already have a procedure with us to confirm your operational need, otherwise upload/email documents to support operational need, e.g. employer's letter, flight crew licence, aircraft engineer's licence.  For a white card tell us about your need as a Known Consignor/RACA/AACA or a screener in training.  Upload or email a letter from your employer.

In-person Identity Verification (changed on 1 August 2017)

Original documents to be presented in-person to the Issuing Body or Agent

Australia Post is our Agent at 376 outlets around Australia.  During the application process you may nominate Australia Post to verify your identification documents.  After lodging your application online you will receive an acknowledgement receipt that includes a barcode.  Present the barcode to an Australia Post participating outlet with your ORIGINAL identification documents (see categories below).   Click here to search for participating Australia Post outlets.

If your employer, local airport, flying school or aero club is our Agent, they may verify your identity and certify your ID as a true copy of the original.  They can also contact us to express interest in becoming an Agent.  Documents to be uploaded/emailed should be in colour and endorsed as "identity verified in-person" and "documets certified" (including name and signature of our agent and date of endorsement).

  • Employees and Contractors - your employer will tell you if they are our Agent.  They can also contact us to express interest in becoming an Agent ... available to managers and supervisors of aviation-related employers.
  • Recreational Pilots - your aero club/flying school will tell you if they are our Agent.  They can also contact us to express interest in becoming an Agent ... available to chief pilot, chief instructor, office bearer, administrator, etc.
  • Airline Staff - your chief pilot / security manager / operations manager can now verify your identity and certify your documents as our Agent.
  • Employees of an Airport Operator - airport manager / administrator / security manager / operations coordinator / senior reporting officer can now verify your identity and certify your documents as our Agent.
